I've often wondered why it appears that scum rise to the top and smartest, most honest people leave or are marginalized. I'm also peeved about the victimization of asylum-seekers by the Australian govt. and the parlous state of federal politics in general.

Spill on?
The ABC's news channel is reporting that there is speculation about a plot to remove Gillard in the wake of the High Court decision crisis. I wonder what's behind this? She's out of the country, and Rudd appears to have recovered from his big op.
